Bill of Lading - A document issued by a carrier for the receipt of goods for shipment, and which describes the terms of shipment. Acronym: BL, B/L

A method of ensuring data secrecy. The message is coded using a key available only to the sender and the receiver. The coded message is sent to the receiver and then decoded upon receipt. Fairfax CALS Shared Resource Center, 1994.

Loan Receipt -
A receipt for a claim paid in advance by an insurance company to an insured, and which repayable to the insurance company if the insured recovers the loss from a third party.
Warehouse Receipt -
A receipt for goods placed in a warehouse.
