Acceptance Testing - The testing performed by a user to determine that an automated system (equipment or software) for a specific task or environment, e.g., a translator for a specific application and interchange format, performs according to specification. Acronym: AT Reference: ECRC University of Scranton / Defense Logistics Agency Fairfax CALS Shared Resource Center, 1994 Related Terms: Acceptance Testing - acquisition | hardware | manufacturing | software | specification | technology | Brake Horsepower - Engine horsepower rating as determined by brake dynamometer testing. Acronym: BHP, bhp Reference: Truck Writers of North America (TWNA)Related Terms: Brake Horsepower - horsepower | trucking | Commercial off the Shelf - Commercial Off The Shelf refers to software and hardware technology which is commercially available and requires minimum changes (design/development), if any, before implementation. S Shared Resource Center, 1994. October 1992. Fairfax CALS Shared Resource Center, 1994. "CALS Testing Programs, Status and Strategy" October 1992. Acronym: COTS Reference: ECRC University of Scranton / Defense Logistics AgencyRelated Terms: Commercial off the Shelf - acquisition | commercial | contracting | hardware | inventory | make-or-buy | procurement | reliability | software | Component Testing - Conducted to verify the implementation of the design for one software element (e.g., unit, module) or a collection of software elements. Acronym: CT Reference: ECRC University of Scranton / Defense Logistics Agency Sharon J Kemmerer Department of Commerce, United States Government "CALS Testing Programs, Status and Strategy" October 1992Related Terms: Component Testing - component | design | engineering | reliability | software | system | Computer-Based Training - Training which is delivered via a computer. Computer-based training includes tutorials, drill and practice, simulations, testing and may also include embedded training. Computer-based training programs are already delivered in digital form to the government. Acronym: CBT Reference: ECRC University of Scranton / Defense Logistics Agency Department of Defense, United States Government Adapted from: "Military Handbook 59-B", 1993Related Terms: Computer-Based Training - computer | education | training | Conformance Testing - The testing of a candidate product for the existence of characteristics required by a standard. Its primary activity is to ensure specified behavior of implementations. Additional benefits include: clarifying the standard for guiding future implementation, producing a feedback loop to the standards making bodies for improvements to the standard, Acronym: CT Reference: ECRC University of Scranton / Defense Logistics AgencyRelated Terms: Conformance Testing - acquisition | contracting | product | quality | reliability | specification | Development Testing - Development testing is equivalent to "proof of principal" as proposed standards are being developed, and before those draft standards achieve technical stability.
